With a deep passion for fishing and the environment in which we operate, we at Imperial Safari Service enforce a strict code of catch-and-release on all of our trips ensuring that these resources are available for generations to come. In sticking with our ethics of fair sportsmanship we cater predominantly to the discerning fly fisherman using other techniques only when required in specific circumstances or when these trips are specifically requested.
The sport of angling is an important recreational, economic, and social activity and with the introduction of ethical fishing practises, sustainable fisheries can be created which benefit all parties involved.
Firstly, by abiding by the Angling Rules set out by IGFA (International Game Fish Association) we strive to document exceptional catches and will follow all procedures in order to register them as potential world records.
Secondly, by actively studying and recording information on the areas in which we operate we are able to offer our clients expert tips and techniques to enhance their fishing experience, from tying flies designed to mimick fish and bait species which are endemic to specific waters, to knowing which conditions are ideal for our target species of the day. These records will also allow us to monitor fish populations and provide detailed information to government agencies in the areas we operate.
Thirdly, Imperial Safari Service realises that conservation of Africa’s fish species is of equal importance to the scientist, the angler, the local communities and the tribes that live on its shores. We endeavour to have a direct involvement with the inland and coastal communities in the areas we operate our expeditions in order to encourage resource management, which we hope may, in turn, increase the likelihood of these resources being used in a sustainable manner.
